Hey Lovies!
Last weekend had me feeling like Lecrae in "I'm Turnt"; it was jam packed with so much of the things I love- poetry in the form of spoken word, dancing, music, endorsements of powerful movements and causes, supporting friends making an impact, praising God! I mean the list goes on, trust my swollen ankles and sleep deprived eyes. Ha! No but seriously, I had an AMAZING weekend last weekend.
RECAP:
I attended a fundraiser for the reigning Ms. New York Plus America- Emicia Yvette Parker! It was fabulastic (yes, I know that's not a real word). It was hosted by D. Charles, a riot on his own. There was a bevy of great artists there, from D. Charles himself to Najee to Relle to Ashley Chambers on the sax!!!

The event ended some time in the morning but I stuck around to talk to some of the artists, very cool people. Really DOPE! (Links are at the bottom, keep scrolling!)
After my friend and I stopped for good ol' $1 pizza in NYC and a few more laughs I went home to recharge for 1 MINUTE then I was off again. I ended up in NYC (Manhattan FYI) again for PROCLAIM 2014! Can I just preface this by saying #BARS ???!!!!!!
The line up you ask? Okay sure...
They blew my mind! I LOOOOVED the "Celibacy Saleswomen" poem. You truly needed to be there! Jackie Hill-Perry made re-think my Judas moments and I was overcome by God's grace and mercy as Preston Perry prayed over me ! Where else do they do this????!!!! Then I got to talk to him for a brief minute, great spirit. These artists care about you just as you care about them. AMAZING!
MC Jin was hilarious... we had 'Hyped Worship' I cannot find another way to describe it. It was excellent. This dude, Karness Turner touched my heart and helped me put things into perspective on a personal level- thank you Sir. Quote and Miguel were on fire! The DJ had us bumping all night. Last but not least, True Voices did their thing all through out the night and I am certainly glad that I DID NOT miss it. If you did, make plans for next year God willing because it can only get better!
In the midst of the great times we were introduced to an organization that is truly doing amazing things- YoungLife ! Check them out.
