We Honor Dr. Maya Angelou

I wrote this to honor the late great Maya Angelou, be inspired to...Rise above! 

We post quotes and recite her poems but what have we learned? 

We cannot dare say we are 'Phenomenal' with the same breath we call ourselves a "bad bitch". One cancels the other. No way it's spun changes it's origin, RISE ABOVE.

Empress Project 2014, Surprise Prom Giveaways with Girl's Inc.

The moment you give back brings a joy to your heart. Helping and blessing others are a couple of life's simple underrated pleasures.

This past week I had the opportunity to volunteer and serve with Girl's Inc. at the Empress Project 2014 in Brooklyn, NY at the Urban Assembly Institute of Math and Science for Young Women.

It was a great time with a photoshoot and guest appearances by the Rock Star Twins, Sassy from Black Ink Crew and a few others. Also guest host was Angela Yee of Power 105.1's Morning Crew.

Giant gift bags, makeovers, dresses and Louboutin shoes... It would be an understatement to say these young ladies were happy.  

I hope these deserving beauties have a blast at Prom-- SAFE but fun! ​
